THE ROAD COMMISSION WANTS YOU TO KNOW . . .
The Cass County Road Commission reconstructed Lawrence Road from Dutch Settlement Street to Marcellus Highway in 2018 with a triple application of chip seal using a sealcoat binder. The road has exhibited asphalt flushing, which is caused by the failure of the excess asphalt binding material, which then becomes adherent, as heavy vehicles move across the roadway, resulting in the current failed condition.
The Cass County Road Commission has determined that the appropriate repair is to pave the road with hot mix asphalt, which as weather allows, will be done as soon as possible. The existing surface will have sand applied to absorb the excess asphalt until paving can be done.
